  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. hot milk
  • 2 tsp. melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • Add to well beaten eggs, sugar, mix well. Sift dry ingredients into mixture and add vanilla. Beat together well. Add milk and butter. Beat again. Makes a thin batter, bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

    Ice with:

  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. butter

Combine all ingredients in pan, bring to boil, pour over cake as soon as it comes from the oven. Put under flame and let icing bubble up and get a little brown. An extra treat-sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Without icing this cake tastes much like an angel food cake! Hubby prefers cakes without icing, I love most icings.
